Slipin' & Slidin'

We got Tommy a Toy Story Slip n Slide for his birthday. It was intended to be used that day at his party, but it rained. A lot. That's OK tho. I have been too tired {read: lazy} the past few days and haven't brought it out. Today, it was HOT, and I decided that it is doing no one any good just sitting in it's box, so when Hubby got home (because I am lazy umm I mean tired) I asked him to please set it up for them. They had a great time! Tommy slipped the first time he tried to run on it so he decided it would be better to run in the grass all the way down and then splash in the little pool at the end. Hey, whatever works. He had fun, that's all that matters.

I love this one!

The big 4

Tommy had his 4 year check up today. I still can't believe he is 4. Hims just a baby........ OK not really, but it seems like he should be. The Dr. said he looked great. He is in the 25% for height and weight, and that is where he has been since birth. He's a little guy, but healthy so that is good. He still has 7 pounds to grow before he can sit in a booster tho.... I was kind of hoping to have him in there by the time the baby comes, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Oh well.

Trent started reading the Harry Potter books. I bought the first one a long time ago, but he was never interested. He said he saw part of the movie and didn't like it. Since it's summer, I decided I was going to make sure he was reading something other than Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants books, so I told him to start the first one, and if he didn't like it, we could find something else. He started the first one and thought it was boring (it is in the beginning), but kept reading and finished it and said he wanted the second one. I ordered the second one from PAPERBACKSWAP (seriously, if you haven't been there yet, you MUST go!!!) and it arrived yesterday in the mail. It has 430 pages, and he is currently on 327. He started it yesterday evening, and went to bed early, BY CHOICE, so he could read. Then this morning I woke up and he was laying on the couch reading. Usually if the kids wake up before I do, they watch TV, but this morning he CHOSE to read. I was really impressed!! I'm pretty sure he will be done with it today, if not tomorrow for sure. I really love that he enjoys reading so much. We will see if he can stomp out the whole series before school starts. If he keeps up this much interest, it won't be a problem. The 3rd book is in the mail!

A bunch of nuthin......

I did nothing today. Absolutely nothing. Oh wait, I take that back, I unloaded the dishwasher and then loaded it again. That is it. I had great plans to get lots of stuff done today, but it didn't happen. Tommy was in rare form today. He wasn't bad per say, just really CRAZY! He pretty much looked like this all day.....

I am very very much looking forward to tomorrow. My friend Megan, who currently lives in Germany, is coming to spend the day with me! YAY! I can't wait to see her! Hopefully I will get some good pictures.

IT'S A GIRL!

I can't believe it. This has been a day of pure joy! I am so thankful!

Today started off pretty mellow. I was feeling pretty good. We got Trent off to school and hung around the house for a bit, and then dropped Tommy off with Joy. We stopped to get a coffee because I wanted to make sure the baby was awake and moving around so she wouldn't be sleeping with her legs crossed or something! Which by they way, I should have had coffee earlier because she didn't wake up until after the apt! We got there and sat in the waiting room. Talk about anxiety! I was so nervous. She called us in and right away asked if we were finding out the sex. Ummmmm YES!!!!!!!! She was awesome and went right for the goods. She said "What do you have at home again??" I said 2 boys.............. then she said 'Hmmm well 1, 2, 3 lines ITS A GIRL!!!!!!!" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I literally put my hands over my face and screamed!!! I could not believe it. I said ARE YOU SURE! She checked again and was like pretty sure! Then she checked the heart, kidneys and head and did a bunch of measuring and said everything looked great. So then I asked her to check again. HAHAHHAHA She did! And it was still a girl! :)

After that I saw my Dr. She didn't have a whole lot to say, just that everything looked really good! Blood pressure was good and, added bonus, I only gained 1/2 pound last month. WOOHOO. That brings my total to 2.5 pounds in 5 months. Score!! I was almost more shocked at my weight than I was the baby. The past 2 weeks I have eaten like a pig. I finally, after 4 1/2 months felt like eating, and was starving! I was expecting a good 5 pound gain, but nope just 1/2 a pound. :) What a good day!

I love this picture! HI MOMMY!

Bunk mates

This past Saturday I got a whole lot of energy, and the desire to get stuff done, so I decided to put the boys together. Hubby was busy working down stairs, so I was left alone on my project. Well alone with a very "helpful" 3 year old. It took the whole day, but I got the room completely cleaned and vacuumed. I took every toy out of Tommy's room and put it in Trent's room so I can go thru AND GET RID OF SOME!!! Then I moved Trent's bed and clothes from his closet. Then I moved his book case in and Tommy's out. I decided to do that because Tommy's dresser, that has the flat part to put a changing pad on, is white and so is his book shelf. Those two things are going in the baby's room. It looks really nice in there, but we are still going to put bunk beds in there because with 2 beds, 2 dressers and a book shelf, there really isn't room for anything else. We will also paint when it warms up enough to open the windows.

Sunday night was their first night together. I was prepared for chaos, but it really went smoothly. They both went right to sleep. I figured they would keep each other awake, but they haven't yet. I know it's only been a few nights, so I am still prepared. Trent told me that he likes this room better than his old one. I was very surprised to hear that, although now that I think about it, it makes sense because Trent really doesn't like to be alone. Tommy loves having big brother in there too. Mommy is happy! :)

The big move

Since finding out we were pregnant, we have been talking about the bedroom situation. We had decided that if it is a girl, we would put the boys together, and if it's a boy, putting the baby in Tommy's room. Well I had some thoughts today. The baby will get up lots at night, and take lots of naps during the day. That would be annoying for Tommy at night, and then in the day time, he wouldn't be able to go in his room. Then I thought about the toy situation. He has a ton of small Lego's and other little toys that aren't ok for a baby/toddler. So we made the decision to move the boys together regardless of what we are having. I talked to Trent about it, and he seems OK with it as long as he can still have a Spongebob room, and he would like bunk beds. Since Tommy's room is bigger (Trent picked his room when we moved in, then when we had Tommy, I tried to get him to take the bigger room, but he didn't want it) so they will both be in there.

I am a little nervous about the whole move, but I really think it will be good for both of them. I am hoping it will make them closer. I hope anyway. :) Any advice for moving them together would be appreciated!

Could you atleast smile at me when you are running me over with your cart?

Why I thought going to Target the Monday evening before Christmas was a good idea, I don't know. It wasn't horrible, just a lot of people (like myself) trying to figure out what the heck to get people last minuet. I love my eldest son dearly, but that boy is so hard to shop for. He asked specifically for 3 things. OK What else? We generally like them to have a few more gifts to open than that, so I am left trying to figure out what he would like. He doesn't "play" with much. He likes Pokemon cards and Bionicles, video games and books. That's pretty much all he does. I want him to have stuff he likes, but I hate wasting money on things he looks at for 10 minuets then loses interest in. I found a few things tonight.

Tommy on the other hand would be happy with a card board box and a spatula. Seriously.

Baby Jesus is bootiful

Says my 3 year old. :) Last night after church Hubby decided to drive around a bit and look at Christmas lights. We usually do this on Christmas Eve, but he has to work. :( Tommy liked the Santa's and the lighted reindeer alot. When we passed one manger scene, I said "There's baby Jesus" And Tommy said. "Ohhh baby Jesus is bootiful." How sweet is he?

We are getting family pictures taken tonight. The last time we did that was when Tommy was about 3 months old, so I thought it was time. Plus, I got an awesome coupon from JC Penny portait center so I really thought it was a good time. :)

Ohhhhh kay??????

Not much new in Jenny-land, hence the not writing. My friend, Megan, came and we spent the day shopping together. I sometimes forget how much I like being around her. Too bad she is in Germany now. (nevermind the fact that we talk online almost everyday, it's not the same!)

I had a parent teacher conference on Thursday with Trent's teacher. I got in there, sat down and his teacher just looked at me and smiled. Umm Yes? She pretty much said Trent is awesome and she doesn't know what else to say. He is exceeding in almost everything, and is very well behaved. She said the only area he may need to work on is creative writing. BLA. I HATE creative writing. You can tell that by my not so creative writing on this blog! He is reading at a middle school level, but the books for middle school aren't really appropriate reading for an 8 year old. He is also working on the advanced worksheets for math. I am proud of my little man.

My other friend, Kari, and her family came from St. Louis to spend the weekend. On Friday we all went to T-Rex cafe. We were there for over 2 hours!! It was fun tho and the kids had a blast. Oh and both got new dinos. Saturday, Trent and her son stayed and played at the motel with Kari's hubby and she and I did a little shopping. It was great getting to spend time with them.

THEN on Saturday, we went to the wedding of two sweet people at church. It was really beautiful. Simple and beautiful.

I am making the dinner this Wednesday at church. Come ready for some yummy breakfast! :)

Party time

We finally got around to having Trent's birthday party. He was sick when we were supposed to have his original party, then with Grandpa passing and other busy-ness. I kind of felt bad it was so delayed, but at least he got to have one. We had a huge turn out, mostly kids. I think we counted 16 kids. In my house. Eating on my new floor. LOL Actually it wasn't bad at all. The kids play pretty well together and they sat nicely on the floor and ate and I dont' think we had any incidents will spills. It was a fun time and I am so thankful for great friends for me and my kids. :)

Outing

Today I took the boys to Crown Center. I actually have NEVER been there before, and don't really see much reason to go back. We got there at about 10. There was a play that Trent wanted to see, but it was already sold out. So we went and looked at the Lego exhibit. After that we headed over to Kaleidoscope, only to be turned away because apparently the mornings are for school groups (in the summer? really??) or appointments for kids 5 and over. Well that didn't work for us, so we wondered around for a while. Then we decided that we would walk over to Union Station. They have Narnia exhibit, Science City, and other things to do. We should have just went there in the first place, but now we know. When all was said and done we just went to Narnia, which was really cool, and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Then we walked back over to Crown Center and ate at Fritz's. Tommy really likes trains, and the food is not bad for what it is.

We left around 1, and I drove around for about an hour while the boys napped in the car. Tommy had an ear dr. apt at 2:15. Then we came home, had an All Fruit Popsicle outside in the shade, then mommy had a cat nap on the couch....
