Ok, so last July you all remember, we brought home a stray dog from my brother's house because he wanted to shoot her (I doubt he would have, but who knows). I felt sorry for her, so we brought her home. Well, that was a year ago, and she really hasn't improved. The only thing I can say about her is she has stopped chewing on everything, althought she does still on some stuff. Our biggest issue is this, since we have two dogs, we decided we needed to fence in our yard so they can just go out and run. We spent alot of money and time on this fence, and that stupid hefer JUMPS the fence everytime we let them out. She goes out and rolls in crap. Literally, crap. Cow crap, or whatever happens to be dead on the side of the road. What's worse is, she barks at people. She goes into THEIR yard, and stands there and barks at them. That is just not acceptable. I am afraid 1) She will get hit by a car, and 2) The farmer whos cows she is bothering is going to shoot her. Seriously, people do that. I don't know what else to do. We've tried lots of things including a shock collar. She just doesn't care. We don't want to chain her up because she will just sit out there and bark, and dig our yard. I think we are going to have to get rid of her. I hate to do it, but what else do we do? She doesn't really give us any joy that a pet is supposed to, she just stresses us out. I welcome and suggestions for keeping her in the fence.
During Bible school week, Trent learned alot about the mission for Gospel for Asia, www.gfa.org. They talked about it alot, and all the offering the kids brought went for that mission. They have a Bridge of Hope program where you can sponsor a child in Asia, to help them be able to go to school and learn about Jesus, along with basic necessities like food and clothing and medicine. Jason and I decided we wanted to sponsor a child. I got on line, and they have you look through pictures of children in need of sponsoring to pick the one you want. But, how can you pick? All their precious faces, how can you pick just one? So I was talking to my friend, Joy, and we came to the conclusion to let Trent pick one, and have him be involved. So I asked Trent if he wanted a boy or girl. Boy of course. Then he said he wanted on his age. We found a cute little boy who's birthday is one day after Trent's. He was so excited. I can't wait to get his picture and info and for Trent to start writing him. I think this will be a great lesson in giving and caring about others, even if you don't know them.
We just got done with a tornado warning here. The boys and I hudled under the stairs. Trent was really upset and crying and kept saying "I don't want to die" I called Shannon and asked her for a scripture that I couldn't quite remember. (thanks Shannon by the way!) I read it to Trent and he didn't seem to impressed until I got too this part.......
The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121: 7-8
After I read that he was like "does it really say that?" I showed him where it was and he just kept reading it, stopped crying and began to feel a little better about things. The Lord is good!
So we woke up this morning and got around and left to get Tommy's 2 year pictures taken. I was excited about it because he has always done a wonderful job when getting his pic taken. Boy was I in for major dissapointment! He threw the mother of all fits when we tried to sit him on the sheet thingy. I have NEVER seen him act so badly. I'm sure he was just scared of a new place, but Jason or I couldn't calm him down. Finally after several attempts, I just said forget it. The lady asked if I would like to reschedule and I said "what's the point?" Then we left with no pics, and I was crying. I was so upset. I just wanted this to be a good day. I am already struggling with him being 2. After I calmed a bit and we were home, I decided to get my sheet off my bed and see if he would cooperate for me. He did. Ofcourse. So these are some pics that I took. I am going to blow them up to 8x10 to put in his frame. :)
Today was the first day of bible school. I get to help with crafts. Not my first choice, but it was actually pretty fun. Most of the kids seemed to pay attention and do what they are supposed to, but there is always a few who don't know how to follow directions.
The bathroom is coming along. Kind of. Well, it's basically as good as it's going to get. We repainted with a lighter color, and it's still really really bright. But, it's going to have to do. I am not buying a 3rd paint color right now. I am just not going to. I think once I get the shower curtain back up and we get a new medicine cabinet to kind of cover up some of the yellow, it will look better.
Trent started karate tonight. Jane D. suggested it to me when I was talking about wanting to find something for Trent to do this summer. All of her boys, and her, are in it and really like it. Tonight was the start of a new session, so I talked to him about it and he thought that it sounded like something he would like. I did inform him that this is NOT an excuse to fight people and that it's not to be used outside of class, unless he is being attacked by a stranger. I really liked that the very first thing they talked about was respect, for their parents and each other. They get homework every week. This week it was to alway put your shoes where they go. I thought that was cute. He gets his uniform next week. He is going to look so cute! :D
