I really don't have alot to talk about, but I figured I should post something today. 2008 has been a pretty good year. Can't complain. It was a "quiet" year, which is the way I like it. It seemed to go pretty fast, which I have heard the older you get, the faster they go.
I have a few "resolutions" for the coming year. I don't typically like making them because by February (ok middle of Jan.) they are not on my mind anymore. This year, I decided to write them down, and keep them where I can see them.
1)Get Healthy. (this includes....lose weight (just like every year!), cooking/eating better for the whole family, more exercise for everyone in the family.
2)Save Money!
3)declutter my house. This is something that has been on my list for a few months, but haven't really gotten much accomplished.
4)Call and/or send a card for family and friend's b-day. This was actually one of my resolutions last year, and I did pretty good. Not as well as I wanted but better than previous years.
5)Be a better wife, mommy and friend.
6)Pick up (and read) my Bible everyday.
I know I can do all of these things, if I just work on them.
I want to wish everyone a wonderful 2009!

Trying to find a Wii
isn't fun! I figured that they wouldn't be so hard to find after Christmas. I was wrong. :(

still here
I haven't been posting much, or keeping up with my pictures. I've just been kind of bla. We had a nice (three) Christmas get togethers. On Wednesday night we went to Jason's dad's house for chili. It was yummy! They got us a new computer chair. We just got a cheapy at walmart when we got our computer and the seat part is pretty much torn all away. We really haven't bothered getting a new one because it still serves it's purpose even tho it's not so pretty. But now we have a new one. :) On Thursday we went to my parents, and Saturday we went to Jason's moms. It's been a busy week/weekend. We always get cash for Christmas from my parents and grandparents, and usually the kids get cash too. So, this year I had a thought. I would really like to get a Wii. We have played it at a couple people's house, and I think they are a good way for our family to spend time together. Yes, it's a video game, but we are doing something together, and you typically don't just sit there. It does require movement. So that is 2 pluses right there. On the other hand, they are expensive. I have been torn about wanting Trent to have it, but I don't want to give him the impression that he just gets whatever he wants. He asked for one several times for Christmas, and I told him that it just wasn't going to happen. Then I had an idea. What if we all put our Christmas money together and bought one as a family. That was, he puts some of his money in for it so it's not like we are just giving it to him. I ran this by Jason and he thought it was a good idea. So today, Trent said he wished we had a Wii, so I said to him that we had been thinking about getting one, but, I would want him to put in some money for it too. That sweet boy ran to his room and brought me his "spend jar". I said, I guess that means that is something you would want to do. He said "YES!!!!!" So, we are getting a Wii this week!

It's 4:55am
and I am awake because of a thunderstorm. Last time I checked, it's the end of December and it's supposed to be snowing. Just so you know, Kansas weather sucks!

the best line ever
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"

God's Gift
I got a Christmas card at church yesterday. It made me cry so I thought I would share......Picture this.... Sitting in church, and someone up front singing "Mary did you know", and then reading this...
God's Gift
Little baby on the hay,
soon there'll be another day
when nails shall pierce Your hands
and feet as You provide our sin's defeat.
Risen Jesus on the throne,
we lift our praise to You alone-
for You're the gift that we receive
the moment that our hearts believe.
-Roy Lessin
Yep, I was crying after I read that. It's almost too much to think about that someone loves me so much that they came to die for me. The ultimate act of love. How wonderful! Thank You God, for wrapping yourself in flesh to come and die, so that I can live.
Happy Incarnation everyone!

Awwww
If you read a few posts back, there is one with a picture of my plain white coffee mug, and how if I had a snow man cup, it would make me happy. Well sweet Christi C, came up to me this morning at church with just that! A cute (and big) snow man cup. How sweet is that. She even put some hot cocoa in it for me. Thank you Christi! That was beyond sweet of you to think of that!

Don't you wish you were my neighbor?
I have just been feeling off lately. Not sure why. Today was good tho. I got up and went to the store to get last minuet stocking stuffers, and candy making goodies. When I got home I made some yummies for my neighbors. When I was younger, my parents and a few of our neighbors all made candy, cookies ect. and gave them to each other. I always thought that was so neat. So, since we have been in this house, I have made goodies and given them to the a couple of the neighbors. This year I added another house. It is a young couple with 2 young kids that we met during the summer. So anyway I made, caramel/oatmeal/chocolate bars, fudgey brownies, and those yummy pretzel thingys that Alisa blogged about (these were my favorite of all three, the other two were just TOO sweet). I had gotten cute Santa plates for $1 at Joann Fabric that I put them on. I think it turned out pretty good, and they seemed happy to be thought of, so that totally makes it all worth it. :)

Sick of the sick
So, on Thursday, I got a call from Trent's school saying he had an earache and that he needed to go home. He would go from acting totally fine, to being in pain. That night he started running a fever so I kept him home from school on Friday. He acted fine pretty much all day, but every once in a while, he would say his ear and head hurt. Saturday, he acted just fine. Sunday he woke up early with diarrhea and this went on all day long. Towards the evening he threw up a few times. Also he was complaining more about his ear, and said he couldn't really hear out of it. This morning he woke up to diarrhea again, and a little vomiting. I took him to the dr. We got there at 9:30, went right in. The nurse came in and he asked if he had to get a shot. She told him she didn't know, and then he started getting all worried. Then he started throwing up. Alot. So the dr came and and looked at him and cleaned out his ear, which hurt. Then they did the strep test. Then we had to give him pedialyte every 5 minuets to help him stay hydrated. It was quite a day. He does have strep. They gave him a shot, which never goes over very well, and gave me 3 prescriptions to get filled. We got out of there at 12. Yes, we were there from 9:30-12. We all need naps!!

Mr. Cool Dude
Time with Grandparents
Yesterday, Jason and I went Christmas shopping, and left the boys with Jason's dad. When we got there to drop them off, his dad asked if it was ok for them to take the boys to cut down their Christmas tree. We said sure! That is something they have never done before. Jason always had real trees until we got married. I am pretty much anti-real trees. They are pretty and all, but I want to sit and enjoy it and not have to worry about cleaning up after it. I have enough people/things to clean up after thank you very much! I told him that when the kids are older, I would consider getting a real one. Aren't I nice. :) Anyway, here are some pictures that they took. Oh, they let Trent pick out whichever tree he wanted, which I thought was sweet. :)
They both had a really good time.

Not my idea......
but still a good one! I saw this idea on another blog this morning, which was perfect because I had been thinking earlier about what to do with all the winter stuff, like hats and gloves. So this is what I did....

The one I saw was a full on shoe holder, on the closet door, but this is all I had. It works tho. I have it behind our front door because our "coat closet" is up the stairs and I wanted to try to keep it all contained to the entry way.
